Hiking in Tuscany, Italy with a gay and lesbian group

Hike in Tuscany

Tuscan cuisine is one reason we love this region so much. The menu for Ristorante Dorando in San Gimignano gives a peek at what's in store.

Alyson Adventures also offers hiking in the Swiss Alps... biking in France... scuba diving... and rock climbing holidays.

Our travel partner, Hanns Ebensten Travel, offers upscale, in-depth gay tours to unusual locations as diverse as the Austrian Alps, Egypt, and Venice.

Our Tuscan hiking holiday is split between two picturesque villages: Radda, set amidst forests and Chianti Classico wine country; and the medieval fairy-tale village of San Gimignano, so entrancing you may take off a day from hiking to explore its winding streets and ancient belltowers.

Follow quiet tracks and roads through forests, fields of wildflowers, and fragrant vineyards. One day, we'll hike to the crumbling ruins of Castelvecchio, a forgotten village that was abandoned in the time of the plague. Another day, we'll stop for lunch at a Tuscan farm to sample the grapes that will become next year's Chianti; and into Volterra, the ancient hilltop city founded by the Etruscans, and later a Roman outpost.

We'll hike and walk along a mixture of unpaved and paved roads, forest trails, and open pastureland.

Like our bike trips, this hiking and walking holiday is designed to allow a mix of group activity and independent hiking. Our coordinator will go out with a group each day; you're invited to walk with this group, or to hike independently with one or two new friends.
